The trick to a good CV is to get all the things that are most important noticable at first glance, therefore it’s a case of less is more. As your experience grows things that happened a long time ago become more condensed with less detail. For example three years after leaving college or university your exam results should be edited to take up no more than three lines. Job descriptions should enlarge or get smaller dependant on their relevance to the job you are applying for. The maximum a CV should be is two pages – remember that you will have room on the job application to write full details. References should be entirely removed and replaced with: References available upon request
